Golden Retriever - Medium - Young - Female - Dog - DIXIE 3 yrs
Description
Dixie just arrived at GRRR and is a very sweet, loving and smaller sized girl. She's a petty Golden girl only 3 yrs. old. Dixie was a stray and her time had run out when one of our volunteers received an email asking for someone to help this little gal who was going to be euthanized the next day. GRRR volunteers rushed to her aid and she is now safe in a foster home with GRRR. Dixie has been seen by our vet and appears to be in great health with one big exception, Dixie is heartworm positive. Dixie will undergo the treatment for heartworm and is looking for a special home or foster home to care for her during the recovery. Dixie will need to be kept quiet for around 6 weeks. She will be limited to walks on leash to just go potty and back in to bed rest. No ball chasing, no hiking, no real fun, but this short time of rest will save her life.brbr Dixie had recently had puppies and unfortunately we don't know what happened with them, but we do know that she is safe and her days of being a mom are over. We hoped that it was her turn to play and enjoy being a loved Golden, but unfortunately that playtime will have to wait until she has recovered from the heartworm treatment. Dixie is a little shy and we are sure it has to do with all the changes she's had recently. Dixie has found great comfort in cuddling up and the attention she receives from her foster mom. She gets along well with the other dogs in her foster home.
