Biography (courtesy of Beloff website):
" Andrea Beloff - The Artist Andrea Beloff's first calling to an art form of her own came while at the Accademia di Belle Arti in Venice, Italy, where she did education abroad while enrolled at the University of California in Santa Barbara. Abstract watercolors first enlightened her path, and immediately larger translations of these followed on canvases. Focused and energetic, Andrea returned to UC Santa Barbara and half a year before graduation she was attracted to the traditional Japanese papermaking technique offered by a Japanese visiting lecturer and artist, Hiromi Katayama. Andrea's fascination with this labor intensive ritual and all the discipline involved in the complete process of making phenomenally beautiful papers from bark of mulberry bush led the artist into the beginning of her own independent form of artwork, inspired by constant work and experimentation. This process is never ending to her. The variety of textures and color combinations that she creates is seen in each new piece of art, or collage. Andrea currently lives in Santa Barbara, California where she creates her art on a full time basis. She exhibits primarily in a few of the top Art Festivals in the Nation. The Sausalito Art Festival, 1990 -1998; Beverly Hills "Affaire in the Gardens", (1st Place award 1995, 2nd Place award 1991 and 3rd Place Award 1990);La Quinta Art Festival (Poster Artist 1999 and Peoples Choice 1999, 2000); La Jolla Festival of the Arts and Food Faire, (Poster Artist 1996); Southwest Art Festival (Poster Artist 1992, 1st Place award 1990-1992); and Beaux Arts Festival Miami Florida (Poster Artist 1999) are among a few of them. Andrea also exhibits in galleries around the country. Currently she exhibits at the La Belle Gallery in New Orleans, Mango Tango in St. Thomas USVI, Pink Papaya in St. John, USVI and several local places in Santa Barbara... American born in New Jersey, ... she moved to Brasil at age 5 and resided there with her Argentine parents for 13 years. She cannot say enough about how Brasil has affected her and her art ... life is vivid in her imagination from which most of her scenes originate. EVEN HER ABSTRACT WORKS RESEMBLE THAT OF AN ACTIVE IMAGINATION. THEY ARE VERY DYNAMIC CONCEPTUAL WORKS FULL OF COLOR, TEXTURE AND MOVEMENT. Through her eyes life would be meaningless if she could not create and materialize what she has inside and also important, if she could not directly share that in her own unique way. "
