Macaw - Large - Adult - Male - Bird - Mojo
Description
Mojo was rescued, along with many other macaws, from a situation that had left them in outdoor dog kennels during the winter. The person who did this was a breeder who had relocated to the Rockies from Texas. This man left no instructions with the kennel owners on how to care for exotic birds. He left no money or any information on how to contact him. The elevation and harsh winter was too much for the birds, and the desperate kennel owners contacted The Gabriel Foundation after taking Mojo to the avian veterinarian for treatment of frostbite. Two of his toes had to be amputated due to this serious injury. Mojo is very mechanically minded, and we eventually had to put padlocks on his cage to prevent his escape! The pinnacle of his career as an escape artist came when he opened his cage door and proceeded to open all the other cage doors in the room. A great time was had by all that day! Despite his hardships, Mojo is now a big, lively boy that plays very hard all day and hangs out with his friend, another Blue & Gold macaw out in the flights. He is a social and outgoing bird, but has not done well in adoptions due to his loud and gregarious vocalizations. If you are interested in Mojo send your inquiries to adoptions@thegabrielfoundation.org or call 303-629-5900 Ext 213.
