If you're an adult looking to get back into drums, or looking to give your child a constructive and entertaining skill, my name is Matt Murphy and I'm taking on students at my home studio in South Denver. I am also willing to travel to student's homes if that's more convenient.

I studied with Mike Marlier at the University of Denver's Lamont School of Music as well as with Paul Romain, one of the most prolific drummers in Denver. I also studied jazz at New Zealand's Auckland University and have been working with kids and adults for more than 8 years, and playing drums for over 15 years. I have been an active player not only in the Denver community but have traveled around the U.S. and Canada with various jazz and rock groups including the award winning a capella group, Groove Society.

I focus on all the basics such as snare exercises and drum set coordination, but I offer something most drum teachers don't: I also play piano and guitar and at the end of each lesson we focus on the grooves we've learned and play in a duo setting.

Rates and lesson length is negotiable - I'm more interested in passing along the knowledge I've gained over the years and having fun playing music with new and experienced players alike.
